Feedback to the imminent and much-anticipated return of
one of Australia's seminal rock bands Divinyls has
been fantastic, to say the least.
25,000 tickets to Sydney's Homebake festival which the
band are headlining, plus tickets to their own Sydney and Melbourne
shows sold out pronto, with new shows added.
Now in news fans have been waiting for, a new concert
is announced today at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on Friday January
4. It is Divinyls only concert in Queensland. Special
guests on the tour are The Church, with a third band to be announced
soon - making this a fantastic triple bill.
The Chrissy Amphlett and Mark McEntee-led band are also
confirmed and set to rock the Grand Final show of Australian Idol on
Sunday (November 25). In what will be their first commercial television
performance in more than a decade, the band will play on the forecourt
of the Sydney Opera House to a 6000+ crowd and a huge national TV audience.
Divinyls will deliver a highly charged reminder of
why they are acclaimed as one of THE greatest Australian rock bands.
After performing last in 1997, Divinyls
were popular inductees into the 2006 ARIA Hall Of Fame and put in a
red-hot reunion performance. With old energies rekindled, this much-loved
iconic Australian band are now back in the saddle and ready to do it
all again.
There's a sensational new single 'Don't Wanna Do This'
(Universal) recorded in Las Vegas in September and produced by Pat Thrall
and Charley Drayton. The single is available digitally on November 24.
And watch out for the wicked animated video which is now spinning around.
'Don't Wanna Do This' has all the earmarks of classic
Divinyls rock with the unmistakable Amphlett vocals to the fore - it
makes you realize how much we've missed them! As a special bonus, a
copy of the 'Don't Wanna Do This' single will be included with EVERY
concert ticket. Fans will collect the single on the night of the gigs.
'Don't Wanna Do This' is the forerunner to a new album
due in early 2008.

Doley (keyboards) - started rehearsals this week and can't wait to get
back on stage. The set will include all their classic songs like 'Pleasure
And Pain', 'Science Fiction', 'Boys In Town', 'I Ain't Gonna Eat My
Heart Out Anymore', 'I Touch Myself' and some newies.

The response to DIVINYLS "Saturday Night Before Christmas"
concert at Fremantle Oval has been overwhelming but it's about to get
a whole lot hotter with the announcement today of the event's special
guest Californian crooner CHRIS ISAAK!
The charismatic Isaak, with whom Australian audiences have had a long
and enduring relationship, and his band Silvertone will perform their
only Australian show at this special concert
event on Saturday December 22.
The platinum selling pin-up boy will be playing all the hits we know
and love from his two decade career including 'Somebody's Crying', 'Wicked
Game', 'Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing', 'Blue Hotel', 'Forever Blue' and
'San Francisco Days', all delivered in that irresistible and stylish
retro-cool rock sound he has made all his own.
Chris toured Australia in November last year and is the first to admit
he's keen to get Down Under any chance he can. This one-off special
show is sure to excite Chris's legions of fans everywhere!
Also performing at "Saturday Night Before Christmas" are The
Church, with two more local acts still to be announced.
